Junior Accountant

SUMMARY

Versatile Junior Accountant needed in fast-paced accounting department to handle various Project Accounting and AR processes. The position is primarily responsible for partnering with the Senior Project Accountant to manage project/contract life cycles, including billing, revenue recognition, and costing as well as day to day Accounts Receivable support, including communications and correspondence with customers. This position will report to the Finance Director/Controller.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Accounting

  • Setup, track, analyze, monitor, and process financial information for the life cycle of customer contracts
    • Set up of Customer and Project codes
    • Monthly project billing
    • Mail out monthly invoices to customers
    • Validate AP invoices charged to projects
  • Deferred revenue recognition reconciliation
  • Monthly L&S revenue recognition set up in Microsoft Dynamics
  • Research contracts by customer and update maintenance schedule for outstanding units for license and support renewals
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 standards

Accounts Receivable

  • AR collection calls and emails
  • Statement and invoice mail outs
  • Cash Applications
  • Daily Deposits
  • Create and maintain electronic files
  • Analyze bad debt reserves

Perform specified Month end Close processes

  • Create and enter various Journal entries
  • Perform assigned account reconciliations, some of which are complex (not exhaustive list):
    • Deferred Revenue
    • Unbilled Revenue
    • WIP
  • Review and reconcile Revenue/Cost/Gross margin monthly
  • Review and verify journal entries from peers

Fixed Assets and Intangible Asset

  • Review and process CapEx request forms
  • Perform periodic asset audits
  • Tag and enter assets into services
  • Reconcile asset and related depreciation accounts

Assist with:

  • Financial review
  • Customer maintenance
  • Credit management
  • Audits as needed

Property Taxes

  • Review and approve tax assessments
  • Reconcile account reconciliation
  • Establish and analyze reserve requirements
  • Coordinate with property tax management advisor

Document retention compliance and document archiving for accounting and finance

Research and other projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS

Education 

Must have an BA with a major in accounting from an accredited University. Actively pursuing CPA a plus.
