Summary

The Sales Engineer I is responsible for assisting the Sales Team in generating sales of Hart’s products and services, focusing on expanding existing accounts and developing new accounts, while partnered with other Sales or Hart team members. The Sales Engineer I will have an assigned territory(ies) and/or sales team member(s) and an assigned team quota.

  • Understand and stay current on elections industry trends and the competitive landscape
  • Exceptional presentation and written communication skills demonstrated by a track record of effectively communicating complex information to a wide variety of audiences, including decision makers, influencers, technical and administrative personnel
  • Professional presence and maturity, discipline, and positive outlook with a proven ability to interact with cross functional influencers and decision makers
  • Ability to connect with and influence people of all backgrounds
  • Willingness to travel across the U.S. as determined by the Sales team and/or other Hart team members, sometimes with little to no notice (~up to 70%)

Responsibilities:

  • This position reports to the VP of Sales
  • Use in-depth knowledge of company products and services to become a trusted elections advisor for existing and new accounts
  • At the direction of or in partnership with Sales and/or other Hart team members, prepare, manage and deliver technical sales presentations/demonstrations/training explaining the operation of software/hardware products and/or services to prospects and customers, whether virtual or onsite
  • In partnership with Sales and/or Hart team members and/or independently, work with existing and new accounts to determine product and service needs, emphasizing the company’s product features based on technical knowledge of the product/service capabilities and customer/prospect needs
  • Work with the Sales Engineer II and/or the broader Sales Team to develop and maintain demonstration databases and materials for virtual and onsite product demonstrations (hardware and software)
  • Operate as the technical sales point of contact for assigned accounts
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with accounts
  • In partnership with the broader Sales Team, be responsible for various sized accounts and assist in selecting/determining appropriate products/services based on customer/prospect needs
  • In partnership with the broader Sales Team, evaluate and target existing and new account customer opportunities within the marketplace
  • Proactively communicate customer needs to other Sales team members and the broader organization as and when required
  • In partnership with Sales team members, identify potential sales opportunity risks and develop/implement alternative solutions to minimize impact and control deviations
  • § Work with Sales and other Hart departments to drive revenue and increase customer satisfaction and customer retention
  • Participate in national and/or regional tradeshows, conferences and other customer facing key events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Located in Austin or immediate area
  • Highly self-motivated and driven
  • Shows initiative – in partnership with the Sales team, engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities across prospect and customer base
  • Very adaptable – responds effectively to changes in situation or information; ability to influence others and build consensus
  • Exceptional collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Proficient in core Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • High energy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to lift/load/unload and carry up to 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to prepare/arrange/setup/organize technical equipment, including hardware/software and other products
  • Experience using CRM software (Salesforce) and the ability to quickly learn additional productivity tools (e.g. marketing automation)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of technical sales experience
  • Minimum 5 years of election industry experience, including knowledge of EAC and State/County testing standards and certification
  • Direct work experience with Government agencies and programs
